We're not newlyweds anymore
Nope, our one year anniversary has come and gone. Dave and I celebrated our anniversary on May 22 and it was wonderful. We saved up and went to Savannah, GA for the weekend to spend it there. It was so nice to get away from everything here and spend a whole weekend just focusing on us and doing whatever we want, no schedule, no plans. We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Savannah, it was so nice. Our hotel was so wonderful to us over the weekend. We got the "romance package" and they had a great basket waiting there for us in our room with a card for our anniversary, they gave us breakfast coupons to have whatever we wanted for breakfast, everyone was really nice to us, and the suite was just absolutely great. The trip was worth it just for the suite. We've got lots of pics to share, but Dave hasn't uploaded them onto the computer yet, so I'll try to get them on here soon. We unfroze our cake and ate it (it was surprisingly still good) and drank out of our glasses. It's funny...when you get married, your heart is so filled with love you can't imagine loving this person any more than you already do. But (the way it should be is) the longer you are married to this amazing person, the deeper your love for them grows.
So besides that, there's so much that's been going on. My mom had major surgery the week before our anniversary, so I went home to be with her the first few days. Dave couldn't take off from school that long, but he understood me wanting to be there with my mom. I did all I could to help her while I was there...it was so hard seeing her in so much pain afterwards. My mom is the strongest woman I know. She and my dad have been through so much and I look up to them. They're the epitome of sacrificing, them-before-us kind of parents and I hope one day I can be half of who they are. But...my mom is doing better and feeling better, she's just confined to the house for right now, which is driving her crazy. Hopefully, her doctor will let her venture out and drive soon, which I know she's looking forward to.
Dave has started his ninth month classes now...only three more months to go. He's in editing and pre-production for the 32mm film. Last month was fun for him...he had to put together a resume, portfolio of all his work, business cards, go to a mock interview...stuff that, in school, I was groomed to do more. So, needless to say, he's glad his Business Communications class is over now. He's been pulling some crazy hours the last couple months, and I think it's gonna be this way for the rest of his time there. He still doesn't know what direction he wants to go in after school, but the closer it gets the more I think he might have an idea. I just can't believe he's almost done. The end of September is when he graduates and I couldn't be more proud of him. He's come such a long way from when we met and we've both grown with each other the last couple years. So it's exciting to think of what our future will be like together.
